About us

About St Albans City and District Council

We believe that it is the community as a whole that makes our district an attractive, enjoyable place to live, visit and work.

As a council we have gone through significant change in recent years including reducing our revenue budget by £7m and our staff team by 20%.  We have protected front line services and strengthened our partnerships to ensure we continue to deliver high quality services.

The area has many strengths: a green setting; fantastic Roman heritage; great restaurants; excellent rail and road transport links; a highly-qualified population; a well networked business community.  Our entrepreneurial spirit drives economic growth in both the beautiful cathedral City of St Albans and the thriving towns and villages that surround it.

Vision Statement/Key Priorities

Our vision and commitments provide direction for our work so that we focus on activities that will achieve the greatest benefits for the District, given limited resources.
