Housing Services

Housing Services has overall responsibility for the management and maintenance of Council-owned Housing, Housing Options and Policy, Fraud and Housing Benefits plus Private Sector Housing, including Disabled Facilities Grants.

The Department employs 94 staff within three main sections:

Strategic Housing: developing and leading the Council’s duties in relation to its strategic housing such as affordable housing, private sector housing, housing strategy, allocations and homelessness, housing benefits and localised council tax support.

Asset Management: leading on the asset management of our housing stock of around 5,000 properties, 2,000 garages and 1,000 leasehold properties, including the delivery of an effective, efficient customer-focused planned, cyclical and responsive repairs service.
Tenancy Management: leading on the provision of a strategic housing management service to the Council’s housing stock of around 5,000 properties, including managing the performance framework, benchmarking key services to identify best practice to inform service improvements.
